iPolicy Networks, a leading provider
of wire speed network security enforcement and management systems, wanted a high-volume pocket presentation folder
that would be inexpensive to produce, while retaining the look
and feel of its already-produced marketing brochure.
The Challenge
•
The
marketing brochure had been produced using black
and red foil stamping on 130# Rhododendron Black
cover stock. The challenge was to achieve the high-gloss
effect of the foils and the expensive feel of Rhododendron
using offset printing on standard, coated-one-side
cover stock.
The Strategy
•
We recommended running a double-hit,
custom-mix PMS created to match the red foil, along
with a double-hit, full-bleed black to achieve a
rich black that would approximate the saturation of the uncoated Rhododendron.

To
achieve the high-gloss effect of the foils, we substituted a full-flood gloss aqueous coating.
•
To
obtain the effect of the open sheet in the areas
where the Rhododendron had not been foiled, we dry trapped super-dull varnish on top of the aqueous
coating.
